Good morning to you!

So a week ago I had a meeting with DSHS, just letting them know about our project and that we are here. Collecting bags and ready to serve. The response was OVERWHELMINGLY positive. They gave me GREAT feedback and seemed eager to get bags into kids hands.

Here are the next steps I think that we should work towards:
1. Find a corporate sponsor to put gift cards into the bags. It would be wonderful for each child to receive a new outfit of their choice.
2. Call a dentist and ask for toothbrushes. We are out!!
3. Start making the rounds at local churches and present BB, call other churches into action!!

thank you for the suitcase...

I often wonder if the people who leave suitcases, bibles, and other goodies in the church office ever know about this little space. This little outlet of mine. This corner of my heart I section off just for this. Just for the love of the fatherless, the motherless. Whether it be short-term or long. This small little thing, that maybe nobody would even think of. They do, a bag. And so for this... friends, family, strangers, thank-you. Thank-you to the person who left a brown leather suitcase in CCTC's office this week, I got it! And thank-you to the many who have left them in the past.

 I have been working to make connections around town. This is not an easy task.

This week several bags will be going to the homeless teen shelter where I know that several foster teens are currently and more will frequent. I would like them to have access to a bag. Not even the shelter has a bag to offer them.

In October I will be meeting with our state officials to work out a pick up procedure with them.

And finally Guarantee Carpet Cleaning has allowed warehouse space for storage and is hanging shelving freeing up the room we intend for foster care!

Our community is so amazing and I look forward to seeing what is coming this next year (as in school year, yes I think in school years haha!)

Thank you Tri-Cities!!! It is lucky that we are not in need of our extra room right now as it is beginning to fill with not only small pieces of luggage but also with backpacks for kids!!! I just was able to contact a sweet gal at Children's Services and will get in touch with another tomorrow. Hoping to go in for a presentation in August sometime and then off to the high schools in the area to present our organization for Seniors for their Senior project.

We have bags!! A big thank-you to those who have donated so far!!! We have some bags fully completed, but we are still in need of storage. Do you have a shed you have no use for, own a storage unit? Maybe you would be willing to donate something? Please contact us!

Storage

Do you or someone you know have a storage unit? We are going to need some kind of storage container, POD, shed, something to hold the baggage in so the social workers will have a place to come and pick them up. Anybody??

What's Next???

So we made a little announcement at church. Well wooptie ding dong doo!! This is just a start, but at least it is a start!!!

1. Let's get the word out. So if you are not from our church, no biggie bring Beautiful Baggage to your church. Heck, bring it to your work, school, community!

2. You are sitting there saying, "Yes, but I am too young to do anything." Well you are old enough to read, and therefore you are old enough to help us! Just because you are young in age does not mean you are not able to help, and we would be honored to have you.

3. Helping our area is going to be great, but let's also think statewide.  With God all things are possible.

Welcome to Beautiful Baggage!

We are so happy to have you here. I was so pleased today to see an overwhelming positive response to the beautiful baggage program. So many people stopping by asking how they could help. So here are the steps:

1. Take that luggage that is sitting around your house you don't ever use anymore. Or grab a new piece if it suits your fancy:)

2. Please carefully tuck inside 3 things:
   - A toiletry bag with basics, travel bible in NIV, NIrV or other easy to read version, and something cozy. Stuffed animal, blanket.

3. Take your Beautiful Baggage and drop if off at Calvary Chapel TC in the office and we will handle the rest.
