Beautiful Baggage started years before it ever began. Is. 61:3 holds a special place in my heart. I read it the night before my Aunt Kim passed away. What God brought to me then was that there would consoling, but there would be beauty from the ashes. What I didn't realize was the big picture. What i saw was the then. And God used that verse to guide me through the then.
My Aunt Kim was to graduate college and go on to be a social worker, we were planning to turn in our paperwork and start the foster care process. Something her and I had talked about was how kids carry their stuff in trash bags. I often wondered how much that happened until I became a FP.
Shortly after getting licensed my husband and I began throwing around the idea of Beautiful Baggage. Then one day in worship the verse came back to me. I realized how much more God had in store.
I am excited to see how God will grow Beautiful Baggage and how we can be the hands and feet of such a much needed thing.

Providing baggage to kids in foster care so that one by one kids will not have to carry belongings in trash bags. "To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified." Is. 61.3
